Established in 2011, Downey Speech Therapy is an independent speech therapy practice located in Erie, PA. Downey’s team of five provide services to children birth to 3. Downey Speech was in need of a branding identity update as the original branding was a template from Vista Print. At first glance the branding looked more like a pre-school or child care center rather than a speech therapy practice. Challenges going into the project included showcasing Erie imagery yet creating a professional brand that could be identified as Downey Speech.

I utilized Adobe Illustrator to create vector logo tests. Here are some of the variations. The client preferred the illustrations based on North Pier Lighthouse to showcase Erie.
“Downey Speech Therapy” was transcribed into a speech wave using PRAAT software. This speech wave was used to create the lighthouses’s light beam icon.
